Summer, the one season where all the students finally got a break from school, but also the time of the year were the sun beats down unbelievable heat upon the citizens of earth. Yui was no different but instead of a break she was still working hard at Namimori shrine also her home, doing chores, training her body and studying for next semester. Today Yui had been sweeping the stone path outside while wearing her Shrine Maiden outfit. A white long sleeved and loose Gi and Red long skirt tied together by a red sash.
A soft sigh escaped her lips as a warm breeze whisked throughout the shrine rustling the trees. 'I'm Bored' she thought to herself while listening to the calming natural music of nature around her, with the birds chirping, the rustling trees and the soft summer breeze. Her eyes closing as she stood there, it was just to hot to continue chores but she had to do them or else....
"YUI WAKE UP, THE WALK WAY WON'T SWEEP ITS SELF" the voice of an old woman echoed out from the shrine. 'Tch caught again' The mysterious voice was none other then her grandmother. The one person whom she cares for more so then her actual parents but less then her grandfather. Yui was raised by her grandparents from when she was a baby never to know what her parents looked like anymore due to them being always away on business trips. Yui not wanting to be punished went straight back to work and finished up her sweeping quickly and started to head inside.
"Ah so hot outside i wish i could take off this top." she said but she knew if she did not only would she get more chores to do, she would get the most severest of punishments know to shrine maidens at Namimori shrine. Yui started to head inside, but noticed someone she didn't recognize walking up the steps towards the shrine. She quickly turned with a smile. "Ah Welcome to Namimori Shrine I'm Yui How can I help you?"

Rina groaned as the summer heat began to pound on her as she wiped the sweat out of her forehead, who knew that Japanese summer could be this hot? She had even forgo her leather jacket to be dressed only in her black tank top, black shorts and leather boots as she was now just taking a walk around the neighbourhood. She was absolutely bored and after training with a punching bag, and releasing some pent up anger, she decided that she would just take a walk and maybe beat some guy up if he hit on her…as she began to walk she could hear her parents arguing as she passed her home. They were always arguing as always, it was quite a troublesome life she led and she only tutted in annoyance…would it kill them to work together for one day? She decided not to even bother telling them where she was going, they wouldn’t even care while they were arguing, she continued to walk pass as she went deeper into the residential district.
People were either staying at home or sweating under the sun as Rina grabbed a soda from a vending machine and futile attempted to cool herself down as she soon arrived at the shrine. She stopped in front of it and looked at it half in amusement and half in anger, she had gone to this shrine many times when she was a child with one of her parents during festival seasons and she had lots of fun here catching fishes and also dressing up but that was back when she was innocent and didn’t know the world as it is. Now she only had anger towards the Kamis that governed this world…what had she done that the Gods think that she deserved everything that this world had thrown at her, she hated religion since she had prayed to the Gods to help fix her family’s issue but they had not listened to her once. It was frustrating that thousands of people would come here to pray and have them answered while Rina’s prayers had gone unanswered for the past five years as she walked the steps up to the shrine intending to at least spend some time before going back down.
As she arrived at the top of the stairs she could still see that it was as impressive as ever, she then heard a female voice talk to her as she turned to see a shrine maiden there as Rina smiled even if her heart was full of anger, ”Oh hello there, are you the shrine maiden here?” Rina said as she hadn’t seen her before or perhaps she had and she had forgotten, ”I’m Rina Greenfield, I live around here…though I would come here for some…things” she simply said as she couldn’t well tell her what she thought about the gods now could she?

”I’m Rina Greenfield, I live around here…though I would come here for some…things”
Yui tilted her head to one side and smiled with her eyes closed, "That is correct. It's a pleasure to meet you Rina. Please come inside from some tea and we can talk about these things you've come for," with that said Yui turned and headed towards the main shrine entrance.
A sense of relief tingled with in Yui's body, she would take care of the guest and not have to worry about her grandmother nagging her to do chores anymore. In a way this girl saved her today. Upon entering the Shrine which looked bigger on the outside then the inside Yui turned to the girl once more "Please have a seat in that room over there and I'll return with some snacks and tea shortly." she said politely while pointing to the left at a sliding door made of thin paper and straw. Yui was really into being polite to people she much rather tease them a little, she did care for her friends and was kind to them but she was very informal, however under the roof of her grandmother and especially while she was on duty, it was mandatory to be polite to all guests even if she found them to be rude or she didn't like them at all.
As she pointed out where to go to Rina she quickly made her way to the kitchen. While fetching the tea all Yui could think about was not only what this person wanted, but how she could tease her a little. It was about time Yui had a little fun during her summer break.
On her way back after finally spending some time finding the snacks and tea she walked into the room where Rina should be waiting. "Ah Sorry for the wait. Here have some green tea," she said setting down a brownish cup filled with green tea in front of the girl and the snacks on the table. Yui then scurried around to the other end of the table and sat down her knees folded under her.
"So what is it I can help you with Rina?" she asked while taking her cup with both hands and taking a sip of tea.

Well this was a pleasant surprise, Rina certainly was not expecting to be invited for tea by the shrine maiden, her plan had been to simply wander around the shrine for a while to return to that nostalgic era where everything had been fine and then leave. However it seems that she could not refuse the offer, it would be rude to do that and besides Rina had nothing else better to do so she might as well take the offer as she nodded, ”Thank you for your hospitality” Rina said as she followed Yui into the main shrine entrance.
When Rina entered the place she was half expecting the place to be as big as the outside suggested, after all isn’t that’s how it’s supposed to be? Aren’t temples supposed to be grand and big? That’s how Rina always thought of temples since she was a kid, it was a place of mystery and great happiness and joy for her, a place where she was able to see her parents at least act like parents and she didn’t have to worry about them arguing nor would she have to hear their screams and curses echo throughout the house as she would uselessly try to cover her ears. In a way the shrine had been her place of comfort and she remembered as a child that she would pray to the Gods for them to help her and have her parents be happy again. Obviously it never worked or if it did reach them they didn’t bother to respond to her, she didn’t care what other people did on their own spare time with the Gods but as far as she is concerned the Gods are biased towards certain people.
Rina nodded as she sat at the indicated position as she waited for the snacks and tea to arrive, the shrine maiden was as polite as ever, she supposed all shrine maidens had to be polite whether they want to or not. It seemed to be restricting in terms of not being able to say what you think about the other person but she understood that the shrine had a reputation to uphold and saying something that would make the customer angry wouldn’t be too good for business. The tea arrived as Rina smiled, ”Thank you” Rina said politely as she drank it, it tasted nice and the snacks complimented the tea, ”these are very nice” she commented as Yui asked her what business she had here. ”Well it’s not really much to be honest, you see I used to come here as a child long ago and since it’s summer I became nostalgic about the summer festivals that happen in the shrine and I decided to have a visit…it’s just on a whim really, I’m sorry for pulling you from your duties” Rina said with her ever present smile.

”Well it’s not really much to be honest, you see I used to come here as a child long ago and since it’s summer I became nostalgic about the summer festivals that happen in the shrine and I decided to have a visit…it’s just on a whim really, I’m sorry for pulling you from your duties”
Yui sighed in relief, she really didn't mind being pulled from her duties as she didn't want to do them in this heat at all. In a ways this girl saved her from another hour of chores to do. Now she can relax and perhaps have a chat with this girl and find out more about her other then her nostalgic summer moods. Slowly Yui took slipped her arms out of the slieeves of her Shrine Maiden Gi revealing her upper body which was wrapped with bandages in a futile attempt to flatten her breasts. "I hope you don't mind its just really hot today and thank you for saving me from my chores." Yui stated as she took off the the gi fully.
Yui took another glance at the girl, from her black outfit to her natural curves and facial features. It was like staring at a mirror except the reflection was something that was within Yui and only let out when she was at school or not bound by the Shrines laws. Yui blushed slightly and tried to hide it by taking another sip of her tea. 'why am i blushing?' she wondered, Rina was beautiful and Yui was definitely attracted to her but she didn't know why she started blushing at all. "um.. If its to much to ask you don't have to but can you tell me about the festivals? I've never got to experience them since I've always been on duty at the shrine handing out blessings or being the one to control the crowds" Yui asked her voice a little more cutesy then normal. She wasn't being shy or anything this was how Yui got into peoples hearts and minds, eventually end up playing around with their emotions, but Yui knew that if this girl was somewhat like her it would prove a little more difficult.
Yui calmed down a bit as the blush started fading slightly but was still visible. she placed the cup down and sat there silently awaiting for Rina to answer with a story of experience or just ask Yui a question in return. Either way Yui was prepared or so she thinks.
