Classes weren’t as boring as those back on her elementary days. Gannobei knew well that, and was happy that she has transferred at a school which made her much productive as a student, as a singer, and a person who is fond of martial arts and dangerous sports. Though she was like this, she kept the hobby of sports to a limit since she doesn’t want to scare people anymore, unless if they triggered her bad side too much. Since then, she has been living peaceful and better, mingling with the crowd instead of being a sober unlike those old days.
Gannobei’s classes just ended normally. Though she hates to admit that she’s not the smartest in her class, she kept on coping up with her grades and curricula, just in case she loses the will to study again. Her memories of the past such as being bullied and hated haunted her too much, that it caused a severe trauma inside her head. Sometimes she would just go away from people being a lone person, needing some space after thinking that she was still the worst, which she is preventing on too much. She continued to fix her things like a nice student, not minding those that would ruin her day and all. The red head is pretty much staying away from those and decided from the start to be nice with people.
She loves her school; unfortunately she didn’t like the drastic uniform (in her eyes, that is). Aside from having to wear long socks and not to mention, a short skirt, with a very girlish top, she has to add a bit of feminine attitude such as sitting well. She was much comfortable with slacks, jeans and everything, while she goes with her normal mannerism. However, her cousin and her nanny would always remind her to be more of a lady rather than a guy even though her parents would be fine by that. The result was her crossplay, which sometimes deceives people thinking that she’s a male.
Wind passed by her long tied hair, while she carries her bag. She walked on another area, instead of going home on her big house. I can still stay here anyway since I have nothing to do much… she mumbled little while she looked at the sky. Something reminded her of someone, but she frowns with that. Closing her bloody eyes, Gannobei whispered to herself. “I don’t want to be the old Ganni anymore…”
She was true with that.
Anyhow, she continued to march towards another part of the school, which happens to be the sports area. This was one of her secret hobbies – and somewhat she was just interested with different kinds of weaponry considering that she was named after a weapon herself. She sighs seeing the large archery field. Come to think of it, I have never tried archery my whole life… She hated the arrows and partially thought that she would only bruise herself if she continued or attempted to try it, thus making her move away. “Meh.” She was about to leave fully.
True her instincts and slight paranoia was telling her to stop, but a part of her curiosity was telling her to try it. With quite a quick reflex, the red head went gallantly inside the field by her self, wandering and seeing the area. She looked around, quite amazed. This field is too large! Ah, why didn’t I even realized that. Mesmerized a bit, she proceeded on browsing for equipment, such as seeing the bows and arrows. Moving nearer, the brunette grunted soft, a little, thinking of several things. Before anything else, she looked around seeing if someone would be there. Okay, I think I am safe. She was already convinced with that.
Gannobei started to pull a normal archery bow and an arrow, trying to assemble it. She didn’t knew of quite the stuff but she did tried. “Am I even doing it right…” she pouted to herself, while concentrating on pressing her fingers to support. She only knew that releasing an arrow would be fine, part reckless but still, she wanted to try. She has always been challenged and thus she doesn’t back out. Slowly but surely, she raised the bow to reach the ‘line of action’ whereas she can see the red dot. She tried to aim for a bulls-eye even if she was slightly scared.[/blockquote][/div]

It was the break period, and for once, Ezio had completed his paperwork on time, after the constant persuasion of his colleagues (and to their surprise as well), deciding to reward himself by taking a small walk around the school compounds. After all, there was nothing point staying in that room full of stuffy responsibility and paperwork, and it would be at least an hour more before his next lesson begun. Dropping by the cafeteria to grab a quick snack, the redhead munched on a piece of bread, strolling around the hallways, oblivious to the fact that each step was taking him further and further away, until alas he realized that once again, he had gotten lost.
Now, in case you were wondering, this wasn't the first time Ezio had gotten lost in the school, and it wouldn't be the last. The first few times he had fretted and tried to find his way around, but after that, he found that it had become pointless, and so merely continued walking around, in the hopes of finding someone who would be able to direct him back to the school, usually the caretaker. This time, he had wandered off the main school grounds and entered the fields. More specifically, the archery range. The very sight of it brought back a sense of nostalgia. How much practice had he spent in getting these things right back in the day? In the end, it was all to naught, not because there was no need for it but merely because there was no place for it in his life. His parents had governed it for a long time, and Ezio had no intention of returning there, no matter how much they wanted him to.
Still, he loved them with his heart, although they tended to be overbearing many a time. He often wondered what would have been their treatment to him had he been born a girl. It would probably have been different. Based on what his sisters had said though, they put more responsibility on him in exchange for listening to his requests, something that they did not have the benefit of. As he thought about all this, Ezio noticed a faint tinge of red in the corner of his eye. At first, he thought it was just his imagination, but upon getting closer, there was his cousin, trying to string a bow and arrow. She was obviously nervous, too much for her own good, and there was no way the arrow would fire straight. Heck, if it even lifted off the bow that would be a miracle.
Grinning to himself, Ezio walked towards his young cousin, silently and stealthily, until he was directly behind her, and guided his hands towards hers.
"Don't hesitate, don't worry, otherwise the arrow won't fire straight. The key is to keep calm."
Ezio took his hands off her and strung a bow himself, pulling it with the arrow. He wondered whether he was out of practice, after the years of not having to do so, but as his fingers released the arrow, the feeling was still there. The projectile shot through the field, landing dead center in the bullseye.
"Looks like I still got it."
Directing his attention back to his cousin, he smiled at her. Archery was a sport of patience, calmness and stability. He wondered whether Gan, raised to be a boy, was able to master her feminine side with this. It would be a good start at the very least. With bow and arrow in hand, while she was nervous, she was still poised with elegance, proving something about what Ezio had just thought. If only she knew.
"Your turn, Ganny-chan. Just breathe and release your fingers. Don't think of firing. Just focus on the bullseye and let go."[/style][style=margin-top: 10px; width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-color: #E0E0E0; color: #000000; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 10px;]tag: here. words: here. notes: here. credit: template was created by rea of on the edge.[/style%5
Gannobei grunted more the moment she is trembling. What the heck am I thinking!? I never have learned archery, damn it! She paced herself to that thought since she was telling the truth. Among sports and activities, the red head have never even learned the ways of the bow and arrow, such as her paranoid reasons and her parents knowing that she is clumsy. Things such as 'you will never learn' or maybe 'you cannot do it' were the few hurt sentences that she has heard from her personal peers. She was much upset whenever it echoed more in her head, knowing that she has been down to her own limitations. Truth is, she can do whatever she was assigned to, as long as she is safe in her own hands.
If you would even question what 'hurt' means to the brunette, she wouldn't answer with a quivering voice. To her majesty, hurt is something natural – physical and emotional. Had she been alone without her nanny and the rest who would care for her she'd be a living doll, just like some men would think her of as. She was nothing but a personal accessory as she quotes to herself, though half denies it. Killing herself to the thoughts were also helpful; after all, she was used to this so – called hurt. What made her puzzled at the moment is her thinking that she might end up in a clumsy state. Why should I even be thinking of it anyway? Been there a long, long time ago. Yes, the red head was still pertaining to this pain.
Back to her own stances, the brunette decided to give it a shot without delay, straightening her back. If one would look from afar, her figure matches Artemis, the goddess of the moon and the master of archery, adding to the fact that she's also the twin sister of Apollo. The curve of her training bow was perfect also, but then is the user ready for the aim? After being sure of what she would do, she closes her eyes first, building up several confidence, until she feels another presence coming from her back.
Gannobei's eyes widened when she knew who it was. Who will even forget that voice? “E-Ezio?”
Right – it was her elder cousin who happens to be much better than her, though she completely denies the fact. Hearing his words made her much nervous now, but she held that to the secret manner. Upon being the nice girl at the moment, she didn't dare bicker him back with the words. Stunning as it is, the arrow flung good, correct, and not to mention, hitting the bulls-eye that she wanted to aim for. ... He's just good as usual. A small frown she made but faded that away, so as not to mind the reactions.
Oh, yes, the fact that he was too close made her blush again. Any person very close to her body would make her blush – it wasn't a form of sickness though. Even her parents cannot understand that, but well, she does. She immediately backed out a bit no matter what, even if he was a close cousin. Darn, too close. She slapped herself mentally, trying to remove those red streaks on her face.
“Fine fine you are the master, hail you.” She even gave a fake majestic bow while knowing that he was better. This didn't anger though. Somewhat Gannobei admired him... however the stubborn brunette will never admit that after receiving the trauma from her old school days. She was about to answer back again falsely when the man talked. ”What me? You saw that I can't even raise an arrow too well so why?” She stopped when she sees his eyes, making a small gulp. “... Okay but don't laugh at me.”
Back to the real deal, Gannobei tried archery once more, this time she is much serious. She took note of how he did it, and tried to aim for a bulls-eye again. The moment she launched the arrow was the moment she took a sharp look at it, as if she's only seeing the red dot. The arrow flung directly, but then inches far from the bulls-eye. “See?” She knew that she wasn't good at it.[/blockquote][/div]

Believing you can do it makes the largest difference. It does in all scenarios. Quite obviously, Gannobei was not believing that she could do it. In fact, it was probably the opposite. Contrary to popular belief, the girl who could do everything could not, in actual fact, do everything and that bugged her a lot, especially since there were few people more talented than she was in the area of... well a lot of stuff. Her lack of self-esteem also meant that she wasn't very good at believing in herself, which ended up mostly making herself feel worse, thus trapping her in a constant vicious cycle unless someone snapped her out of it. Usually, that someone was anyone close to her who knew her well enough, either Ezio or the nanny. This time, it was going to be Ezio, though he had expected that coming when he first caught sight of her in the range. He knew the things about her that even her parents didn't know (mostly because they couldn't really be bothered) and so it was up to him to knock some sense and confidence into her when she was all filled up with self-pity and denying her own capabilities. There was no need to say how annoying that actually was to Ezio, considering he knew full-well what she could do.
"Ganny, Ganny, Ganny. Your problem is that you forget to believe in yourself. You can't expect an arrow to hit the bullseye if you don't believe it can hit the bullseye."
With a smile, he turned to Gannobei and guided her bow-wielding hand with his own. He knew of her problem with proximity, but ignored it for the time being. If anything, he was her tutor now, not her cousin. Being worried about these things could wait until he displayed her full potential. It was just the two of them there, with perhaps the exception of a few birds and squirrels. Silence embalmed the area. One arrow, one breath, one goal. That was all it took to fire an arrow. Simple enough. Of course, it was all easier said than done. He remembered the first time he had fired an arrow, it had shot diagonally downwards and ricocheted sidewards, nearly hitting the instructor, who luckily caught it in the nick of time. That didn't mean he stopped trying though. Every day, he would practice as long as he had time, until he finally got it. Those times were exhausting, but fun, and he wondered sometimes why he gave up archery. Probably because there was no place to practice in Japan. Here was Gannobei however, finding an interest in the art he so admired once upon a time, and she had the definite stance of a gifted individual. Probably in the same or shorter time, she would have mastered it as he had. It was strange really. She was so talented, yet she spent so much time lamenting on how she couldn't get things right, as if everyone else needn't practice at all.
Ezio was the prime example of someone born without talent. At first, he could do nothing right, not horse-riding, not his studies, nor being a gentleman, but over time, as he was nurtured with patience by his tutors and his parents, he overcame all that, and by his own perseverance, the results were the Ezio today. Sure, he didn't like all of it, but that didn't mean that he hadn't tried at all. Oh no, on the contrary, he had put his full effort in it. It was just that he had grown weary of the lifestyle, and thinking into the future, had no intentions of passing it on or continuing with it to the end. It waskjust not his style. Being born into a family of aristocrats was an obvious blessing. Loads of people wished for it; but at the end of the day, Ezio could not, would not, live the life of an aristocrat, simply because he was unable to.
He, like many others, like Gannobei, had to live life unrestricted by the demands of society and of their environment. Without ignoring the views of those, he might have given up a long time ago, as Gannobei tended to do. She had become so accustomed to living that lifestyle that she forgot what she was capable of, something that Ezio had been afraid of committing himself.
"You have your whole life ahead of you. Stop doubting yourself and believe. That's all I can say for you, my cute lovable cousin."
With that, he lifted her bow arm up, parallel to the bullseye, and placed an arrow in her hand, leaving her a peck on the cheek before moving away to observe, to see what she would do.[/style][style=margin-top: 10px; width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-color: #E0E0E0; color: #000000; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 10px;]tag: here. words: here. notes: here. credit: template was created by rea of on the edge.[/style]
Gannobei pouted more (and cutely, to be precise) since she knew that this would bother her too much again, but she couldn’t get why Ezio would just keep on pushing her. It was annoying, irritating, as if she was being diverted to the old self of hers; the one that she wishes to forget and let be. However, there was a part of her, specifically her paranoia, that is making her worst and lose the limits instead of extending her goals. A multi-talented and multi-tasking girl like her should have more than three talents, thus she pushes herself too hard. The point is she wanted to be the one who is obvious – somehow thinking that, at least, reaching out to her parents through actions would be primarily effective.
The red head could bitterly remember those times her parents would shower her with lots of things, even having those words worst in mind: “I wish I was a boy instead.” She hated saying that to herself but because she has so much love and appreciation towards the one who has bore her and took care of her, she accepted the bad thing. To be raised like a guy is a suffering hell for this brunette – instead of being a pretty princess or a dragon lady, she was more of a brute than the rest of the guys. Adding to that is her comparison. She was glad that she would always be complimented, but somehow the guy-ish side of hers is the only one lovable and obvious, which made her sulk deeply. This was her depression for more than years. The results? She never knew how to dress well as a woman, act as a lady, and even learn how to love as one – good thing her boyfriend Amakusa found her, and even had the chance to be with her. She was so glad when someone confessed to her and loved her for what she is even if she was a guy-ish and improper empress herself.
She diverted those thoughts back to the beginning, where she can recall the bittersweet fate that she is facing. She was somewhat eased when she met Ezio who guided her, and so as her nanny who was more of a mother to her. Swear to God she did, that if ever she didn’t meet these people, she would have been hollering madness over the mental hospital, which wouldn’t suit her well. Add to that is a good friend from the Shimon by the name of Amethyst, who seemed to admire her which made her much happier. Come to think of it, a lot of good things happened to her life.
Next to that was her talents and prowess when it comes to sports. She was best when it comes to kendo and anything brutal because of her believe in herself as a guy, and for forwarding her talents as one, even without crossdressing. She thought: “if I were to be raised like a guy, then I have to beat them.” That was her primary source of motivation, which pushed her to what she is now. Part of her is thankful that she was partially a male in poise than being a sassy princess who would probably end up being picky and everything – which she would find disgusting an annoying.
Speaking of which, her cousin wanted it that way. He knows of her actions, and he happens to be her tutor also when it comes to Kendo. Really now. Right now, even at the archery arena which she just passed and tried. If she knew that he was around she wouldn’t have even touched the things. “I-It’s gonna hit! You’ll see that!” Her voice symbolized no more backing out; one could say that it is the normal “Gannobei Garena” as the name says it. This time, she would hit the bulls-eye by her will. Ha! I can do that, I just don’t have a thing for arrows! That’s what she was slightly muttering about. It’s just like a gun, right? Only…
“…” She was silenced more when she listened to the towering cousin, because she knew that he was just teaching her. Slapping all those negatives in her mind helped. “Thanks for motivating me.” At least she had something nice to say and all at the moment. It was as if, a personal desire at this closed scene – hitting the bulls-eye is the mission and it should be accomplished. As she was guided, she gave a small turn, so she can follow his steps, but then something made her pause again which was distracting her. Ezio what the heck, why are you so close!? She tried her best to ignore that feeling and her face, since this was a serious business herself. It became much worst after feeling something on her cheek. ...Damn it. She should have been used to it right now, since her boyfriend would be doing that surprisingly and sometimes.
She nodded, shaking her head again, part of her hair moving sideways. Her red bloody eyes focused on the red dot, her back with posture, proper and neat now, much better than the two trials awhile ago. Just do what Ezio says, Ganni, and you will be fine! She kept that in mind again, now stretching the string and releasing the arrow. It made her eyes widened when this time, it struck the red dot, and it was a first. “Oh yes!” the brunette jumped once happily seeing that, now facing her cousin. “Did you see that? I just did what you said and yeah!” She was happy forgetting her sulking aura awhile ago.[/blockquote][/div]

For example, how she was raised as such into a masculine personality. A girl like here born into a family like that should've been treated like an absolute princess. Instead, she had been fostered as a boy would have been. The same could've been said in the early years of his sisters' lives. Each and every single one of them had to adopt talents that were mostly learnt by boys of their age, simply because of their parents' expectations for a son. He couldn't say that it wasn't saddening to see such promising young ladies being turned into what they weren't by nature. Of course, that wasn't saying that there weren't any good points to it. Being raised as a boy meant that Gannobei complained much less than a normal girl, and was definitely less picky about things. That was for sure; but for Ezio, she had integrated herself into that way of living much further than she should have. True, he knew that she despised her old self, but to completely forsake it... wasn't a choice either. That part of her formed the person who was known as Gannobei Garena. Ezio merely wanted her to accept it.
He knew how often she wished she had been born the opposite gender instead. Perhaps then, her parents would have been more than happy to spend time with her, instead of leaving her alone with multitudes of gifts to accompany her. Sure, she was pampered, but at what cost? Ezio was constantly reminded of the possibility that she could've a spoilt brat or even broken apart had he and the nanny not been there. From the start, she was never truly 'loved' by her parents as they would have if she had been a boy. Fortunately, life did not force its darkness at her, and it warmed Ezio's heart to see that at least she had a friend, and even a boy who would so willing accept her, even in her current state (something that she thought he didn't know about).
With all that, it helped to regulate how far she pushed herself to be acknowledged by her parents. That yearning was still there, subconsciously or consciously. Her demands for herself were over the top. In everything, she had to better than the guys, simply because she was raised as one. She was tougher than nails, more so than a lot of boys Ezio knew and taught. It made him proud to have her as his cousin. On the same note however, he would much rather have a more feminine side of her appear. Her upbringing didn't allow her to understand the intricacies of being born a girl. Everything had been set in stone for her since the moment she was conceived. It was about the same for Ezio. Truth was however, that that kind of lifestyle was just too lackluster, too boring to live. Sure, the lack of the need to choose made a lot of problems easier, but it also restricted the freedom of a person. Similarly, based on that mental template, the person would never allow him/herself to be free either. There was no such thing in the vocabulary of such an individual. That was what Ezio wanted Gannobei to escape from; but it was impossible if she didn't accept it herself.
Her word of thanks resonated in his mind as he watched her continue on. She could do it. Ezio believed in her. Now, it was just a matter of whether she believed in herself. After all, that made all the difference didn't it? As he watched, her aura changed to one exuding confidence. Fingers released the arrow, the projectile shot forth straight and forward, landing dead center in the eye of red. Ezio smiled, applauding for Gannobei.
"I did Ganny-chan. Good job."
That was all that she needed now. Self-confidence. It was her lack of it that caused her to push herself so hard, to win her parent's affection, to want to be the best at everything, to lose faith in trials. If she gained it back, Ezio believed that there was nothing that she couldn't achieve, as long as she set her mind to it. Meanwhile, a bell rang in the distance, signaling the end of the break. Ezio stood up from his position, patting Gannobei on the head.
"Though it's time for class again, Ganny-chan. Maybe you can show the Archery Club what you're capable of next time. Until then, study hard."
With that, he left, walking towards the direction of the school building, hoping sincerely not to get lost. In his mind, he was sure that there was things to come for Gannobei, but at least, she had gained some confidence to face them.[/style][style=margin-top: 10px; width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-color: #E0E0E0; color: #000000; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 10px;]tag: here. words: here. notes: here. credit: template was created by rea of on the edge.[/style]
Good thing he did; ifhe missed the chance of looking at that she would be really disappointed – it was somewhat an effort to do so, while the red head continued to be happy. She realized just a few minutes ago that she was just like a kitten or a puppy, giving off slight and fake coughs while remembering everything. “I mean, yes. I did it. Thanks Ezio.”
She puffed her cheeks lightly with that, keeping up her manly poise while being much of a brunette – one thing that her cousin would most likely want to remove. She is still a woman if you look at all sides, being quite the red lady no matter what she tells.
It was also a good thing that she was in good hands at the moment, unlike other bullying Millefiore people specifically when it comes to her height and the rest. The red head couldn't think of anything else but try dangerously to shoot the opponent or so – called bullies since it was the focus of her personal reflex. This was how she was trained to be in any manner, and any sport. The red head could see that pretty well, but couldn't control such anger that she would feel returning to the past. She didn't like that happening, and to think that her sadism is far worst of a female's or a male's... she would find it scary herself. She tried facing towards the mirror while she speaks of it, trying to be positive of her sides. What she sees is a black shadow – a stained one, and perhaps, one that would practically laugh insane. She was scared of that shadow.
Moving on to the real deal, she blinks her eyes while hearing her cousin. “What? You have classes again? Really?” She couldn't help but think of it, making her arrow and bow drop to the table slightly and shook her head. “Nah, I am glad with the Kendo class, though I would be seeing you most of the time... which is somewhat biased towards the others.” She gave a cheeky smile to that, at least, showing a simple face of a red lady. She didn't mind that though since it wasn't a big manner. No one mattered about it, or maybe someone did? She gave up on thinking of anything else afterwards.
Gannobei continued to look at the red dot, still seeing the arrow at the middle, and didn't took her look off it, still wanting to believe that she did that. To think that she was so hyper and high with the issue, even at the smallest ones, she couldn't help but be glad of her work. There were sometimes that she would bail and throw tantrums over someone whom she sees whenever she is bored, or in any case, the usual crossplay while she goes as Gandere Garena, which is surprisingly allowed, trapping and deceiving the eyes of the other people. Now this came ahead. I feel a bit awkward and guilty hiding things from Ezio...I'm sorry... why did she thought of that? Because she is; Gannobei has a guy, she's even going out with a Shimon student, a friend, and their cousin Sling is a sarcastic Vongola. The wars between schools were just hilarious to her ideas. She didn't even know why she ended up as a Millefiore and so... not with the rest of the people. Having a relationship with the other school people isn't against the law, right?
Before she forgets anything, she spoke again just to make sure. “Oi Ezio! The classroom's at the other side, okay? You might get lost there!” One thing is also so noticeable – she never addressed the elder cousin as nii-sama or a brother, or anything related to that (such a rude call she gives, yes?) Too bad she was too unconscious with that. She just continued to act that way, now turning back seeing the male leaving completely. “Seriously, that guy... I hope he doesn't get lost...” She gave herself a proper face palm before anything else happens, leaning on the rails and fixing the archery equipments.[/blockquote][/div]
